Quirky Chicagoans

So, in my neighborhood, people shovel around their car, and then put furniture, buckets, or construction cones down to save their spot on the street. I used to think this was crazy, but after spending hours keeping my spot clear, I see the benefit. Besides, who wouldn't want to reserve a spot by your house? No one dares mess with it, either.

Here's my car, with my equipment.

Wow, I wonder how many spots are actually saved?

Wow -- I guess I really was a suburbanite that I never considered this issue (even though it should be glaringly obvious -- I wouldn't dare try to find a parking space in the summer months, and I sure know how long snow can hang around with those crazy Illinois temperatures).

Are you guys out of your deep freeze yet?? I saw that the high was, like, negative nine last week and felt bad for you (and glad for me -- today our high is sixty, baby!)

That is so neat that no one messes with the stuff you put down to mark your place. Very polite and kind of people, I think.

that's hilarious! With all the disrespect around the world isn't it funny where people draw the line?

We get ticketed for doing that in Provo.

Fun posts. Thanks for all the photos. Makes it not seem quite so long since we've seen you.
